I'm allergic to insect repellant, therefore I am mostly immune to sandflies and mosquitoes through years of toughening myself up
(Except on the west coast, when they come in clouds and you can't breath :D)

With sandflies, I had the same feeling than during this episode of X-Files few years ago ([link]) :P
You don't need insect repellent, you need a flame launcher, but that's just me :D
