Artist's CommentsLocation : Dussen (The Netherlands) The castle of Dussen is located in the city of Dussen, in the region of North-Brabant, in the Netherlands. Encloses by ditches, it was built around 1330 and was constituted of only one tower, it was expanded in 1387. After the Saint Elisabeth's storm in 1421, the castle was mostly destroyed and abandoned for 30 years. The local inhabitants went to pick up the remaining stones to rebuild their houses. Rebuilt in 1456, the castle was destroyed again during the 80 years war (1568-1648) and rebuilt in 1608. |
